Under the title Overture, 30 graduates present their final exhibition at the Städel Museum. After up to five years of studies in Fine Arts, the exhibition marks not (only) the end of their study time, but presents also a prelude to what is yet to come. Overture points towards the horizon of artistic practice, and the process of developing and rediscovering one’s own approach to art and its relevance, again and again.

I initiated and produced this publication, commissioning many other fellow students to write on the topic. At its core, this publication offers a dialogue between sound‘s metaphysical and material dimensions. Each contribution delves into the affiliated phenomena of sound—its ability to resonate beyond the cochlear, its function as a cultural and emotional signifier, and its role in mediating complex political and social realities. The essays collectively navigate through historical inspection, dialectical inquiry, and interdisciplinary approaches, shedding light on sound’s latent power to shape not just artistic output, but consciousness itself. 7-8pm listening of the vinyl album

Please join us for this double book lauch - with a program of live radio, music, and conversations put together by the students of the Hassan Khan class and the Gabriel Caruana Foundation. The Khan class trip is kindly supported by Städelschule Portikus e.V. and DigiPraxSND.
Heisse Luft / Selected Model is a diverse collection of text comprising theory, fiction, essay and conversations developed and written by the members of the Khan class at Staedelschule. The book is a playfully serious search for possibility in our contemporary, turbulent and fascinating world.
